How We See the Future of New Age Entertainment Content, Look at Crafter
I’ve been working in the entertainment industry since 2013, when I founded my first tech venture showflx.com . I don’t think I’ve learned more about strategy, technology, and culture from any other industry I’ve worked in but entertainment . It’s a stretch to claim that everything I know about business I learned from working and researching but there’s no doubt that many people can see glimpses of the future of the company and innovation by looking at how the founder foresee the future. Here is my view
Content is still king, but young talent plus new ideas for new age content is transformational.
Popular streaming services whose analytics, algorithms, and digital-streaming innovations may have changed how customers watch movies and TV shows, but they are not completely successful in providing content they want and love.
Here’s how Navatej kumar explained it in 2014, when the company had just 1000 subscribers for the web application . “The real problem we’re trying to solve is, How do you create an ecosystem so that artists can find fellow artists to connect and collaborate? We give them a platform and tools to create good content.” This point of view has driven Crafter from the beginning, and it underscores the power of original and great content in our business success.
We aim to disrupt entertainment industry. Apple could be the dictionary definition of a Silicon Valley disruptor, an entrant that reshaped the logic of a personal computer. Yet what’s truly remarkable about the company’s trajectory over the last four decades is how dramatically it has disrupted itself in service of its mission. Apple began, of course, with a pretty simple innovation — Apple II. It then transitioned from building mobile devices, content to streaming movies and music digitally.
Here again, Crafter is entering an industry by challenging its conventions. From eliminating people to inventing “the idea of providing a platform for artists “providing artists the right tools and technologies to create good content’ — an approach to niche new age content fuelled by technology.
Passion is culture, culture is success.
What struck in my head from the first time I had this idea in my mind is that I think just as rigorously about people and culture as they do about collaboration and creating content. When it comes to who I hire and what I promise them is the big picture of this.
It may be dangerous to try to get inspired too much from the very little performance of a very small tech start up company — even the most successful companies are bound to experience setbacks and disappointments. It’s okay, I guess.
Thanks
